US Army Fort Bragg, NC April 2012 - Present

Network Operations Control Chief

 

·   Created the Organization’s first ever Network Operations Center (NOC) and Security Operations Center (SOC) with minimum funding.  Saved the organization Millions by repurposing underutilized equipment and choosing the best value added option to create the peripheral systems.

·   Managed core internal IT staff, IT resources as well as SOC metrics capture and reporting.

·   Implemented intrusion prevention/intrusion detection systems (IPS/IDS) and network monitoring tools including SNMPc, Orion, and What's Up Gold to allow a more detailed view at the health of the network systems.

·   Provided technical expertise and advice to Senior Executives about the installation, operation, maintenance and scalability of wide area and local area networks (WAN/LAN) consisting of 64 CISCO/Microsoft hybrid network nodes within the organization.

·         Participated in the development and review of IT budgets and ensured they complied with stated business goals, guidelines, and objectives. 

 

US Army Fort Bragg, NC October 2011-April 2012

Network and Computer Systems Administrator

 

·         Identified critical flaws in Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP); coordinated the purchase of a more sufficient backup power generation system that would allow reliable communication even during power outages. Saved the organization over $25,000,000 in server equipment repairs due to power surges and outages.

·         Managed working groups to certify the Security Technical Information Guide (STIG) in sight of the Cyber Command Readiness Inspection (CCRI).  Lead Project Manager for parent organization’s CCRI in 2012; resulted in their successful compliance with governmental guidance.

·         Configured CISCO routers, switches and call managers; provided communications support to more than 37,000 subscribers locally.

·         Developed business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.

·         Reviewed performance of IT systems to manage the optimization of operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade.

US Army Joint Base Balad, Iraq March 2011-October 2011

·         Managed a Technical Control Facility worth in excess of $250,000,000.  

·         Planned and coordinated the installation of (6) satellite systems, (25) digital network nodes, network monitoring tools, QoS and (36) miles of fiber/copper backbones used to provide robust, reliable communication to over 20,000 subscribers.

·         Reviewed, negotiated and accepted contracts and job appraisals for 200 contracted personnel as the Contract Officer Representative. 

·         Worked hand in hand with the SCCM/Image team to develop and test a more effective PXE images to limit the amount of IAVA and vulnerabilities. 

·         Collaborated with IA in order to help mitigate outstanding HBSS security issues; resulted in 94% compliance with the South-West Asia Network Enterprise inspection.

US Army VBC, Iraq April 2008-April 2009

Senior Systems Administrator

 

·         Developed and managed the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) for the deployed network.  Managed Active Directory and user accounts on tactical SIPR and NIPR exchange services for over 3,000 subscribers.

·         Reviewed & assessed Risk Management Framework (RMF) formally Defense Information Assurance Certification & Accreditation Program (DIACAP) packages including Plan of Action & Milestones. 

·         Provided and maintained services within Defense Threat Reduction Agency to include NIPR, SIPR, Defense Video Secure Global and office systems to Joint Staff, and Joint Information Management Officers.

·         Managed the migration of over 3,000 subscribers from one Network Operations Center in a destitute location to final locale at my organizations Technical Control Facility.

 

US Army Europe February 2002 – February 2006

Radio, Cellular, and Tower Equipment Installer/Maintainer

 

·   Provided direct support of troubleshooting Advanced SINCGARS Improvement Program (RT-1523E/F) allowing frequency modulation communications for over 600 users.

·   Provided Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Satellite Communication (SATCOM), Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA), HAVEQUICK communications by operating AN/PRC 117F/G, and AN/PRC 152 Advance tactical HARRIS Radio.

·   Provided local Communication Security (COMSEC) management for securely receiving, storing, and transferring data between compatible cryptographic and communications equipment to include Simple Key Loader (SKL).

·   Ensured proper encryption for secure network using High Assurance IP Encryption Interoperability Specification (HAIPE) with KG-175D Micro Tactical Local Area Network Encryption (TACLANE).
